What each power rating actually buys you
Pick the rating first — it is capped by whether your home is single- or three-phase, and it decides the price more than the brand does.
Plugs into a normal socket. Adds roughly 20 km of range per hour — fine as a backup or for a microcar, slow for a big battery.
The default choice for a Pakistani home. About 40 km of range per hour, so most cars refill overnight on an existing connection.
Needs a three-phase supply. Worth it only if your car's onboard charger can actually accept it — many cap at 7 or 11 kW.
For businesses and public sites, not homes. Requires a dedicated supply and a far larger budget.

Six things that separate a unit worth owning from one that is cheap for a reason.
Type 2 connector
Almost every EV sold in Pakistan charges on Type 2. Only buy GB/T if your car is an import that needs it.
Match your car, not the box
A 22 kW charger gives you nothing if the car's onboard charger caps at 7 kW. Check the car's AC limit first.
Built-in RCD
Residual-current protection should be in the unit. If it is not, your installer has to add it at the board.
Tethered or socketed
Tethered has the cable attached — convenient. Socketed takes any cable and is easier to replace if damaged.
Warranty and local support
Two years or more, and someone in the country who can service it. An imported unit with no local support is a risk.
Ingress rating
Outdoor units want IP54 at minimum, IP65 if fully exposed. Pakistani summers and monsoon rain are hard on electronics.

How much does an EV charger cost in Pakistan?
A portable Type 2 unit starts around PKR 26,000. A fixed 7 kW home wall-box typically runs PKR 45,000 to 130,000 depending on brand and features. Installation is charged separately — see our installer directory for what fitting costs.
What size charger do I need at home?
A 7 kW single-phase wall-box suits almost every home here and adds roughly 40 km of range per hour, refilling most cars overnight. 11 kW and 22 kW need a three-phase connection, and only help if your car can accept that rate.
Which connector do EVs in Pakistan use?
Type 2 for AC charging on almost every EV sold here, and CCS2 for DC fast charging. Some imported cars use GB/T and need an adapter.
Can I just use the cable that came with the car?
You can, but it is usually a 2–3 kW portable unit meant as a backup. It works, it is just slow — an overnight charge adds limited range on a big battery.
