The verdict
The Sealion 6 matters less for what it is than for where it will be built: it is set to be the first BYD assembled in Pakistan, at Mega Motor Company's plant near Karachi, with production targeted for December 2026. It is a plug-in hybrid, not a pure EV: an 18.3 kWh Blade battery for a claimed 70 km NEDC of electric running, then a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine for everything beyond, with the top AWD version making 319 hp and 550 Nm. That battery is the same size as the Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV, JAECOO J7 PHEV and Omoda 7 that already sell here between PKR 99.99 Lakh and 1.06 Crore, so local assembly is what decides whether BYD can price it into that fight. We expect it at PKR 12 to 14 million (PKR 1.2 to 1.4 Crore), our estimate rather than a BYD figure; this page will carry the official price the day it drops.

When will the BYD Sealion 6 launch in Pakistan?
Hubco, whose associate Mega Motor Company runs BYD in Pakistan, told analysts in November 2026 that local assembly starts in December 2026 with the Sealion 6 plug-in hybrid as the first model. Treat that as a target: the plant's start has already moved from the first half of 2026 to the end of the year. Prices and the Pakistani specification have not been announced.
Is the BYD Sealion 6 electric or hybrid?
It is a plug-in hybrid. You charge its 18.3 kWh battery like an EV for a claimed 70 km NEDC of electric driving in the top AWD version, enough for most daily commutes, and a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine takes over beyond that, so a long trip never depends on finding a charger. The export car charges at up to 6.6 kW on AC and 18 kW on DC.
What will the BYD Sealion 6 cost in Pakistan?
We expect PKR 12 to 14 million (PKR 1.2 to 1.4 Crore). That is ChargePK's estimate; BYD has not announced a price. The front wheel drive plug-in hybrid SUVs with the same size battery, the Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV, JAECOO J7 PHEV and Omoda 7, sit between PKR 99.99 Lakh and 1.06 Crore, while the all wheel drive Haval H6 PHEV costs PKR 1.29 Crore, and the version reported for Pakistan is the 319 hp all wheel drive car. Plug-in hybrids also pay 9 percent sales tax under the draft Auto Policy 2026-31 against 1 percent for battery EVs.
